EDITORIAL
Dear Reader,
Welcome back to my Black and Asian Heritage Mix’ Newsletter.
This issue invites you to explore resources linked to the Commonwealth, including a public consultation on a new war memorial in Dover. Other highlights include the launch of various cultural memory projects relating to the South Asian diaspora, including Indian art exhibitions in partnership with the British Museum.
My favourite resource is a series of photos from the 1970s by Daniel Meadows, which reminds me a bit of the photos in the book “Black Britain” by Paul Gilroy. I also recommend you to watch the short Vimeo film “The Shop on Greame Street” about Meadows’s free portrait studio inspired by New Yorker Bruce Davidson’s work in Harlem.
Happy Reading!
